Women’s Convention-2013, Ujire

Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra® Vimukti Laila organized women’s convention 2013 on 08-03-2013 in Ujire at the premises of Sri Janardana Swamy Temple. The colourful programme was begun with the rally which was inaugurated by Mrs. Sumathi Bhat, the president of the Vimukti, SHG federation at Sri Rathnaverma Stadium, Ujire. 265 women self help groups consisting of 4000 women followed up the rally with the great dedication, discipline and vigour on the women’s day with the great aim of bringing the change in the society. The change of expecting good and equal treatment for women in the society., change to motivate them to go forward openly, change of stereotype patriarchy system, change in the perception of the people about the women so on were quite visible in the colourful, respectful, dignified rally that women took on the main roads of Ujire, chikkmagalur and Dharmasthala. The uniform dress and courageous slogans, meaningful tableaus broke the silence of women against injustice, unequal treatment and shameful attitude of the society and the blind administrative system.
 

The rally when it reached to Sri Janardana Swamy Temple premises the chief guests of the day were welcomed with the traditional yet meaningful band, trumpet, yakshagana music, nasik band and women with kalasa, the huge yet disciplined rally gave a fitting start to the stage programme.

The stage programme was begun with the devotional prayer dance and later welcomed all the invited guests by SHG groups president of Gerukatte cluster, Mrs. Jyothi. Later Mrs. Sumathi Bhat gave an introductory speech on the importance of the day. She said that there still many cruel atrocities against women are going on in the society and we women do need to stop this unjust attitude of the society and need to create a peaceful atmosphere where all women live contented and happy life. Later Mrs. Thresia, The secretary of the Vimukti SHG federation presented a brief history of the SHG women development and of the various activities report of 14 years. Presenting the report she said the Vimukti Federation has steady growth since 14 years and there is a great progress in the economic and social life of the women and also of their families in Belthangady and Bantwal Talukas. This growth can only be found because of the Dayalbagh Institution which motivates us continuously in every step of our success. Thus wholeheartedly she on behalf of all women expressed her gratitude to the Organisation (Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra at this fitting occasion. She also thanked all the benefactors of the Muktha Dwani souvenir for the support.

Immediately after presenting the report the inauguration of the programme was done by Mrs Sapna Ravidran, the director of ChildFund India, Bangalore and spoke at the occasion and said to the gathered that women in the whole world speaks about the Progress of the society and that progress she said it is actually lies in the progress of women. She said she also glad to see the more than 3000 women gathering for the first time in her life that to in one place without fear, so disciplined and with great hope. She appreciated the silence and the disciplinary aspect of the women group that was gathered. She also added in her point that there are cruel atrocities in the society on women so it doesn’t mean that we got to fight against men but it is just meant that we got to fight against the violence and seek justice.

Requested to all the SHG women to use the platform that the Organisation and the ChildFund partners give to be independent themselves. Independent is not just emotionally but also independent in a financial way and socially every way. She also said as women they have several duties and they are like to be independent and never to allow violence in their own families. Finally She promised the support of ChidFund in their growth and appreciated for the great works that the Vimutki womens federation with selfless support of Capuchins.
Later the Chief guest, Mr. Vasantha Bangera, the MLA of Belthangady taluk spoke on this vocation and asked why we are celebrating this day and said that we must understand we have, mother, sister and they are also women so violence to one woman, violence to the whole women folk. If illegal atrocities are going on women its only because of the worst policing system that is there in the country. And in karnataka, Dakshin kannada it is worst we find in the ways like exploitation and rape of women, church attacks, and no justice to the death of women murders it is just I feel as the total police system as dead.

He said the gathered women if you don’t get justice to go and demand from the police station straight way and seek justice and he said that they will surely give justice when women enter in to the station and do so. He also said that there was election in Belthangay, 6 seats were for women 5 for men and it has to be continued and more women must go forward and take charge of cleaning the whole corrupt political system. Finally he greeted and appreciated all the women as well as Vimukti, (capuchins) Organisation for its women empowerment work.

Later Muktha dwani Sovenier was released on the stage by the oldest SHG federation member Mrs. Kamala
 

Then Pradeep Rraj, the Project officer opportunity Micro finance India Ltd, spoke and said today women’s day celebration and it is a celebration of the great day. There was a time where women were just used to work in the Kitchen but now there is change the women can play a different role and they also like men come up in their life. In this exploiting atmosphere it is very much necessary to use the varied loan facilities available financial situation and support and help in building up their family in the financial level.

Then the director of the Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra Vimukti spoke at the occasion and said that this is the 4th convention of SHG women’s of the organisation. He quoted several sayings of Tulu which usually considers women as powerless or useless in the society and because of these sayings only the women is exploited in several ways in India. To change this structure of treating women will be changed when the mentality is changed that without any difference there is freedom to all and the works which women particularly made to work are shared between the genders without any difference. Today women have too many opportunities to come up in the society and I am glad to say that Vimukti SHG Women have used all the loan facilities, schemes and programmes in the best way and their repayment is also good. Finally he requested the project supporters to help the organisation to support in empowering the women, children and wound up his words.

Then 11 most successful and great achievers in SHG groups were honoured by the chief guests.

Later Branch Manager of SBI Bank Belthangady spoke and said the SBI Bank is giving loan either to the organisation or directly to the SHG’s and if require to the welfare of the women the bank can provide the loans even to the Vimukti SHG’s in the available interest rate. Then he gave the compliments to all the women and capuchins for their dedicated work towards least and vulnerable of the society.
Then the speech was followed up by Fr. Henry Vas, The Vice-president of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra and said though priestly life seem to be that they do not need or live a life without women it is untrue even that the priest cannot live without their service and support. The love and support from their living style is marvellous and touching one. Then the programme was followed honouring of the gathered guests and it was done by Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, the director of Vimukti.

Finally the president of the programme Most Rev. Dr. Vincent Furtado the provincial of capuchin province spoke at this occasion and said your progress or development is to be your aim and in your aim we are there always to help out and reach to you. The organisation is doing its best to give service to your progress because it always tries to walk in the steps of Jesus Christ. Finally he gave the International women’s day best wishes to the gathered women and wished them best for their future.
The master of ceremony of the whole programme was done by Mrs. Ranjini, the member of Kalmaja cluster and Mrs. Reshma, member of Gardady cluster and with the vote of thanks for the arrived guests by the joint secreatary of Vimukti SHG Federation Mrs. Premalatha the stage programme was ended up.

Immediately after the stage programme various cultural programmes in cluster wise and thus the women’s day celebration was done with immense joy along with the large group of women.
