Distribution of solar lamps
On 26th August 2015, Capuchin Krishika Seva Kendra (CKSK) along with
the ChildFund India organized the program for Poor School going children
called “Ujwal Bhavisya Ki Ore” at Belthangadi Subramanya Sabhabhavana.
311 poor school going Children are given Solar Lamps to facilitate their
study and reading Habit. The program presided by Fr. Vinod Mascharenhas,
CKSK the Director. Child development Programme officer (CDPO) Mr.
Puttaswami, Block Resource officer Mr. Subash Jadaw, Laila Panchayath,
PDO Prakash Shetty and Fr. Amar Lobo are other dignitaries present at
the program. Fr. AMAR Lobo Introduced the purpose of the Solar lamps
distribution program citing the present problem of electricity in the
rural areas of Belthangadi which is hampering the education of children.
Fr. Vinod Mascharnhas inaugurating the event and asked the parents to
give importance for the education of children and make the best use of
the lamps given to them from the Organization. He asked the Students to
cultivate reading not only for the study sake but to get knowledge. The
student in whom thirst for knowledge increases will become knowledgeable
in any subject and will contribute for the development of the society.
He also informed the gathering that this programme is organized in
support of “Book are my friends” campaign began last year. The solar
lamps are given in order to motivate the young minds to continue their
reading habits in spite of power failures. CDPO Mr. Puttaswami
appreciated the efforts of Capuchin father s who are working tirelessly
for the Decades towards welfare of the Women and Children in rural areas
of Belthangdi Taluka . Mr. Jadaw, the BRC appreciated the yeomen service
of CKSK for supporting rural poor children for their education and
wellbeing. Laila Panchayath, PDO Mr. Prakash Shetty acknowledging
selfless service of the Organization and thanked Fr.Vinod and his team
Vimukti for taking initiative towards education of Children. CKSK is the
voluntary organization run by Capuchin Fathers who are working over 39
years helping poor and marginalized people of the area by forming SHG
(Self Help Group) , giving training for Agriculture and other vocational
courses for women and youth, loan for small scale industries support for
the education of children, awareness about Child Rights by forming CWBC
(Child well Being Committee)in different Schools and various other
welfare activities , thus gaining the applause of Local people for the
dedicated service.
