Orientation Training Held For Child Resource Team
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress;
working together is success”- Henry Ford. T he
training on “Convergent action to strengthen community based Child
Protection” which was organized and supported by UNICEF at Vimukti
premises, Pothnal was conducted for 3 days from 19th June to 21st June
2015. Beneficiary of the training are Sakshrath Prerakas, 33 social
workers (14 women) working in various NGOs from Manvi taluka.
Facilitation of Interventions:
Staff recruitment
In order to facilitate the interventions, personnel like Taluka
coordinator, and Panchyath Animators were recruited and were oriented on
the activities to be carried out.
Training design and Methodology
This training has been developed by experienced persons from Unicef
Koppal and it is based on Child Rights and Child Care issues. Prior to
the training, trainer Sr. Ducline Crasta consulted the Vimukti team to
get a common accord on the contents. Through the process, the trainers
used the interactive/participatory teaching approaches rather than
lecture to stimulate the learning environment more participatory and
active. This approach includes, small group and plenary discussions,
pair work, stress lease exercises, energizer games etc.
Objective of the training

To give
comprehensive knowledge to the child Right resource team about
child right issues and safe protection of the rights of the
child and laws relating to children and alternative care for
children.

To establish,
to educate and to implement the child rights both in District
and Panchyath Level.

To understand
the learning of each NGO in the area of children’s learning
needs

To have better
provision of services of alternative care for children.

To give
awareness to taluk level Government officials about child rights
issues and its protection.
Baseline survey and
scheduling of programmes:
After the orientation and training of the Staff, they were placed in
the implementing area i.e., 36 Panchayaths of Manvi Taluk. To make the
activities efficient and effective, each field the director asked
the child resource team to make a baseline survey of the beneficiaries
and their specific requirements. This helped to schedule the activities
in time and to implement the envisaged activities without delay. vimukti
encourages its partners to work on rights based approach, convergence
strategy and in activating Government Pre Primary Child Care Centres
(called as Anganwadis and Balwadis) and Government Schools. To the
extent possible, community mobilization and demand creation from
community side is activated. Advocacy, lobbying, child rights,
elimination of child labour and enforcement of child friendly measures
are part of the projects programming.
Orientation training held for child resource team:-
Following the successful implementation of the Strategic Planning
Process at the Vimukti level, it first conducted a three-day orientation
meeting for the child resource team at Taluka level. The three-day
orientation was held at Vimukti premises, Pothnal, on 19th to 21st June
2015. The purpose of the meeting was to orient the participants about
the Child Rights Issues, Child Rights Protection Committee (CRPC), Child
Right Clubs, and Makkala Grama Sabha etc. in this training resource
person helped the participates to formulate a road-map for this project
for the next one year and an action plan for next 6 months. During the
three-day orientation programme, additional relevant input sessions were
conducted on soft skills such as communication, motivation, teamwork and
improving self-confidence.
Participants:
There are 33 social workers (14 women) working in various NGOs from
Manvi Taluka had attended this training, and benefitted from this
training. Additionally, participants jointly opened to each other by
providing and receiving comments and feedback constructively. In
summary, they were very interested in the training and participated in
the training activities actively. 2‐ Course Contents the training is
