Interaction
with Government departments
The program was held on 14th October 2014 at Capuchin Krishika Seva
Kendra (R) (CKSK) office at 10.30 am. Government departments Officers
assembled to exchange and share their knowledge with CKSK Organization.
The main intension behind the program is to involve each and every
department in the Organization activities for the effective
implementation of various projects.
The program was started with the prayer by staffs Ms. Shobha and co.
followed by the welcome speech by Ms. Divya Kumari, 15-24 age group co
ordinator. Ms. Jesintha, Accountant of the Organization gave an
introductory speech about the CKSK activities, different projects
undertaken by the Organization, Goal and objectives, future plans and
activities of the Organization.
Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, the director of the Organization addressed the
gathering and spoke about the roles of Government departments in the
project implementation, how to work together for the betterment of the
society. He said the main intention of all the project activity is to
uplifting the living status of the family through the women and
children. To achieve this goal, we are tied up with the different
agencies and proposed different activities based on the needs of the
people by considering their age group. To greater extent we are
successful in implementation of the proposed activities through your
department and we are very much grateful for you cooperation and
support. This interaction will also guide us to implement present
project activities and plan better for the future taking in to
consideration of all the suggestions inputs. Our interaction,
cooperation and working together will certainly benefit the most
deprived people of the Taluka and this will stall all the duplication,
wastage of energy and the resources of the project activities. He
thanked each one of the different departments for their immense support.
Mr.
Puttashetty, Thahashildar of Belthangady Taluk interacted with the
gathering about the different policies of the government. There are
different schemes for the widows, physically and mentally challenged and
senior citizens. 2 new unique schemes of the Government are Mithri (for
sexual minorities) and Manaswini (for the unmarried women of above 45
ages). Further he informed about the compensation for the crop destroyed
by the natural calamities and explained the gathering about the
acquisition of Government lands and about the necessary documents to be
submitted to clear the land records.
Ms. Ammi, Block Health Educator, Community Health Centre Belthangady
appreciated Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra for working along with the
health department by giving awareness program in the community on breast
feeding, contagious diseases, family planning, nutritious food intake,
immunization, Antinatal Care & Postnatal Care training etc. She gave
information about the health schemes such as Thayi Bhagya, Madilu Kit,
JSY, Janani Suraksha, Leproscopec Camp (LS), dot centre and the
department also giving monthly pension for the 1080 Endosulfan effected
people in the Taluk. In future the department has planned to organize
camp for the scheduled tribe and awareness rally on family planning and
she asked for the cooperation from the Organization. Questions are asked
by the Zilla Panchayat member about Vajapayee Arogya Shree Yojana. By
responding she explained the benefits under the scheme mainly for 7
diseases such as Cardiac Vascular Disease, Cancer, Neurological
Diseases, Renal Disease, Burns, Polytrauma Disease and Neonatal
diseases. On behalf of the health department she thanked the
Organization for all the support.
Ms. Jayanthi Paledu, President, Taluk Punchayat, Belthangady addressed
the gathering and said, Taluk Panchayath cannot directly select the
beneficiaries for the different schemes and programs. Gram Panchayaths
play a major role to reach out the needy people. The Organization
extending very good service to the rural children and women and she
requested the director to extend the services to the other villages of
Belthangady Taluka.
Mr.
Puttaswamy, Child Development Program Officer, Belthangady, by
explaining the activities of the department said that, the department’s
activities are mainly for the pregnant women and children up to 6 years.
Department works towards providing medical facilities along with the
nutritional food supply. Children aged between 3 to 6 years will attend
the Anganavady and children will learn basics like discipline and
socialization. The main intension of the Anganavady system is for school
readiness. The teacher prepares a child mentally and physically for the
school environment. Here the teacher will teach 52 activities in 52
weeks. The CKSK is also working along with the department for the
pregnant women and children and we also expect the same cooperation in
future too. Many irregularities and issues concerned with the safety and
security of children and women are posed by the Mr. Sampath Katty.
Mr. Keshava, Assistant Child Development Program Officer, Belthangady
informed in detail the necessary requirements to start an Anganavady
centre, such as there should be at least 10 children, good building,
safety, security etc. The Government of India will give approval to
start any Anganavady only after proper examination. The department has
undertaken 6 programs under ICDS also Nutritious food day celebration,
Awareness program, Bala Sanjeevini etc. Balasanjeevini scheme is mainly
for the children aged between 0-6 and providing financial assistance for
major surgeries. Children below 1 year will get Rs.50,000 and 1-6 years
will get Rs.30,000. He requested the Organization support to train the
Anganavady teachers, breast feeding campaign, follow up for the play
materials provided, awareness on health and hygiene to helpers and
awareness on importance of Akshaya Patre.
Ms. Sumangala, Block Education Officer, Belthangady said, the
Organization helped the department previous year by providing 25
remedial teachers which was a great aid to the slow learners of the
Taluka. This year still we are in shortage of 152 teachers in the
school. Many programs for the children are organized by CKSK for the
betterment of the students. In every school there is a Girl child
Protection Committee to solve the problems related to the girl children.
Now every school has to build compound wall but there should be the RTC
for the land to build the wall. Among 180 primary schools, 16 schools
and among 53 high schools 5 schools are having the problem of RTC. There
are Counseling and guidance unit in every high schools. Here the
government provides Rs.1000 for the counselors. The Organization can
help the department to counsel the students with the problem. To a query
raised by the staff, she answered that there are many complaints of
computers in the school. The tender is given to a company to check the
systems and to provide better service. Authorities from Child line
opines that the corporal punishment is high in Belthangady Taluka and
the department should take necessary action against this practice. She
said that in few schools they did not keep suggestion boxes. The
department will find out those schools and make them to install within
this month and clearly Child Line contact number will be displayed. She
asked the cooperation of the Organization to counsel the parents of girl
children of SSLC to send their children regularly to the school.
Mr. Rama Murthy from Labor department said that the department works in
two ways one is for the implementation of the labor policies and another
is for labor social security Schemes. The building construction workers
and the Beedi workers will come under the department. If head of the
family pay Rs.30 and become a member of the union, he will get Rs.30,000
med claim for his family. If any private taxi, auto, lorry driver become
the member of the union their family will get Rs.200000 for accidental
death, Rs. 100000 for physical disabilities. There are pension scheme
for the workers from 18-60 age group. The children of the member will
get scholarships after their 5th standard till post graduation ranging
from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 10,000. Female worker will be benefited by 15,000
for 2 deliveries. For the chronic patients Rs 200000 will be given for
the treatment after they submit their bills. For the first 2 children’s
marriage the member will get Rs.50,000 for each and they have to
register their marriage and have to produce their certificate. Each
member should ren ew his/her membership for minimum 5 years to avail the
monthly pension of Rs.500. He said for all these schemes the government
is using the fund from the CES tax paid by the people, who build a
building worth of Rs.10,00,000 and above. He asked the cooperation of
the Organization to gather the people to give awareness on these union
and its benefits.
Mr. Shivaprasad from Agricultural Department said, the Organization with
collaboration of Agricultural department has given different programs
for the rural people. At present there are different programs from the
department like Arecanut based agriculture, integrated crops like pepper
and coco, Extending Pineapple and Banana plantation. The trainings like
Use of fertilizers and Insecticides, irrigation and bee keeping
department also provides assistance for purchasing department permitted
insecticides, jasmine cultivation, coconut plantation, small scale
industry, use of drip and micro sprinklers. The Organization can think
of doing small scale industry products through the Self Help Groups (SHG)
and market them within the members and in the functions etc.
Mr. Narayan Poojary from Jalanayana Department said the department has
undertaken different activities at Andinje, Arambody and Kashipatna
villages. The interested people can do tailoring goat raring and so on
to improve their economic condition. Along with the economic
development, the department also gives importance to develop ground
water. There are schemes for Eastern Ghat Development and the areas like
Neria, Puduvettu. Nidle and Kalanja will come under this project. So the
Organization can apply when there will be Government call for tender.
Mr. Shailesh Kumar the member of Zilla Panchayath said the Organization
has arranged very good program. It is a great opportunity to all the
departments to come together and share the different activities of their
respective departments. CKSK is very much concern about the community
and work along with the community. If all the departments share their
information through pamphlet and manual, the staffs of the Organization
can give the information to the community and can help to select right
beneficiaries.
At last Ms. Wilma, SHG Promoter extended the vote of thanks. With the
lunch at 2 ‘o’ clock the program was concluded.
