Case Study
Emancipation from Child Labor
I, Kavitha am the 2nd daughter of my Parents. My father is Mr. Amaresh and Mother Mrs. Deveamma. We are residing at Tadkal village, Manvi Taluka, Raichur District. We are very poor and my parents work as day laborers. We have our own house and little property.

For the past many years my parents are migrating to Bangaluru in search of job and every year in the month of December they come back to home for holidays. From Last three years due to poverty, financial constrains and lack of knowledge they have been sending me for grazing sheep. Very often I have been requesting my parents to admit me to the school since I have dropout for the past three years. Looking at my companions who are going to the school regularly many times I was feeling very bad of my state of life. Now I am ten years old girl.

Just few days ago Vimukti staff Mr. Arogyappa who visited my village to dropout survey while at the same time my parents had come home from Bangaluru to cast vote. Meanwhile Vimukti animator came to my house and explained to my parents about the importance of education, and consequences of child marriage and child labour. After a long discussion and constant visits my parents were convinced about it. As a result I was really inspired and motivated to go to school regularly. Very next day along with my parents I went to school and got admitted into 4th standard under special School. Now my mother is at home and grazing sheep and father works at Bangaluru.

Now I am very happy and regularly going to school every day without fail. Vimukti has quenched my thirst for schooling. It is a U turn through which I could gain hope to bring my dreams into reality. Vimukti is successfully working for the upliftment of poor and downtrodden children like me. I am grateful to Vimukti for their selfless service.
