I am Pampanna, the son of Basanna,
resident of Udbal Village of Manvi Taluk. I have been farming since
many years and thus farming I support and take care of my family.
Daily life has been hard and I am trying my best to sustain it
through all my efforts in the fields.
My cultivating land is near the river. Though there is water it has
been difficult to divert that water to our fields. We use motor to
pump the water to the fields.
One day I met Mr. Charlie who is the staff member of the Vimukti
Charitable Trust. I had heard that he helps the famers in various
ways to get some benefits with regard to cultivation of the land.
Therefore I spent some time with him explaining the problem that I
faced being a farmer. I spoke about the need of a new motor pump
set.
Actually I was about to buy new water pump set for cultivation. Mr.
Charlie took all my information in detail and communicated it to the
Agriculture Department and helped me to get a pump set with
concession rates. If I buy the same set from elsewhere I should at
least pay Rs. 32,000/- but with the help of Agriculture Department I
got it for Rs 12,500. This way I saved Rs. 19,500.
So I remain ever grateful to Mr. Charlie who made me aware of such a
benefit from the Government. I thank the Vimukti Charitable Trust
and all the staff of Vimukti who help people to know their rights
and benefits.
There are many farmers poor like me who are not aware of the
Government schemes. May this Vimukti Trust help such people to come
to know their rights and benefits so that they may be freed from the
clutches of poverty and struggles of daily life.
